Laboratory Technician

DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol (DDCE) is offering an opportunity to work in an innovative biorefinery setting. If you are a highly motivated team player with plant laboratory experience, DDCE could be the right place for you. We are currently seeking qualified candidates to work at our state-of-the-art facility in Vonore, Tennessee, which is committed to demonstrating safe, efficient, low-cost production of transportation fuel from renewable biomass. The candidate will be working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and scale up a process to produce ethanol from cellulosic biomass. The primary responsibilities of this individual will be to provide analytical support to the program, in order to characterize streams coming out of the various unit operations. This individual will be responsible for carrying out existing analytical methods, as well as modifying existing methods for different types of samples. Also, developing and validating new methods.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: Bachelor degree in chemistry, microbiology, and/or related field.
  • Post graduate education is a plus.
  • Plant laboratory or science facility experience.
  • Solid understanding of laboratory equipment and its science.
  • Broad knowledge/experience with analytical procedures with particular expertise in chromatography (HPLC, GC, IC) and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience in wet chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with assays, measurements, calibration, troubleshooting, and interpreting results.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute work to meet needs and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands.
  • Demonstrated capability with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Experience and skill at developing strong team interactions.

Successful candidates will:

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able and willing to perform multiple tasks.
  • Have flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts and other variations.
