Keith Brazzell

Keith is in charge of DDCE's cellulosic ethanol demonstration biorefinery and research facility in Vonore, TN. The facility, which is expected to begin production in 2009, will have annual production capacity of 250,000 gallons of ethanol derived from non-edible portions of corn plants and switchgrass.

Keith comes to DDCE with experience in food and industrial chemical processing, power generation, ethanol production, wastewater management, and other areas. He has propelled more than $200 million in projects from design to startup. He was plant manager for a site including alcohol and a DuPont biotech/ethanol joint venture in Loudon, TN, and was involved in process design and improvement, training and safety programs, air quality issues, and technological innovation. Prior to the joint venture, he was Plant Manager at Tate & Lyle in Dayton, Ohio, where he is credited with turning around an unprofitable citric acid plant. He was promoted to that position after serving in several other management roles at the company, including operations manager and new products manager.

Keith has a bachelor’s of science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN, where he also completed extensive studies in computer science.
