The Integrated Solution

DDCE was formed in 2008 to develop and commercialize an integrated solution for production of cellulosic ethanol. The joint venture combines DuPont’s expertise in biorefinery design and engineering, pretreatment chemistry, and mixed-sugar fermentation with Genencor’s expertise in biomass enzymes and low-cost biocatalyst production. The company’s primary product will be a technology package containing all the licenses, designs and engineering details needed to build a biorefinery to produce ethanol. The package will include licenses to make the bulk biocatalysts needed for production. The integrated solution allows us to deliver a sustainable system with optimized unit operations for the most cost-effective capital and operating-expense parameters. Our customers also will benefit from template solutions for upstream biomass supply. And as you would expect of a company with this heritage, DDCE will continue to improve its system performance and transfer upgrades to customers.
