
Itasca, IL – January 27, 2009. DDCE today announced that Barbara Fatina, CPA, MBA, has joined its senior management team as Chief Financial Officer. Barbara has extensive experience in the energy industry with responsibilities in general management, operations, finance, and administration. Most recently, she was Vice President of Operations and CFO of Verety, LLC. Prior to that she was Vice President and General Manager of Exelon Energy Company, a $750 million retail energy marketing company serving commercial and industrial customers. Barbara has deep experience in building sustainable businesses, business systems and high performing teams. Barbara holds a BS from Illinois State University and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
Keith Brazzell has been named the Site Manager at DDCE’s Vonore, TN, site, reporting to Georg Anderl, VP of Engineering. The site will include a pilot plant, a process development unit (PDU) and an applications laboratory. Keith brings over 20 years of experience in plant management, engineering and operations with Tate & Lyle. He has worked extensively on numerous industrial biotechnology, cogeneration and ethanol projects. Most recently, he was plant manager of Tate & Lyle’s Loudon, TN, facility. Keith has managed numerous successful projects from design to start-up and long-term profitable operation. Keith has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
Stuart Thomas, PhD, has been named Director of Technology Development, reporting to CEO Joe Skurla. Stu will be responsible for integrating the legacy technology of the parent companies as well as managing on-going technology development programs. Stu has extensive experience in applied biotechnology, clean technology development, product management and international business development. Most recently, Stu was Business Development Manager for DuPont Clean Technologies for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to that he was in central R&D at DuPont working on biocatalysts, immobilized cell bioreactor design and optimization, and metabolomics. Stu is a chemical engineer with a BS from University of Wisconsin, Madison and a PhD from North Carolina State University.
Kyle Althoff has been named Director of Feedstock Development. Kyle will report to Vonnie Estes, VP of Business Development. Kyle will help develop feedstock strategy, including defining and delivering in-spec feedstock to DDCE’s cellulosic biorefineries. He will also assist in plant sitings and develop grower delivery business models. Kyle comes to DDCE from BBI International, where he managed a number of client projects from financial and market analysis to dry-mill ethanol plant development. Prior to that, Kyle worked as a credit analyst at CoBank, a cooperative lending institution serving rural America. Kyle has a BS from University of Minnesota and an MS in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University.
